Interview 1: Feature Experience Partner

We wanted to use the FreemanX blog to share a little about the history of our various Experience operators...hope you enjoy.

Below is our first interview with Clare Allen co-owner of the very popular Balloon Flight, Parramatta Sydney - NSW. She sheds a bit of insight into her operation and the people behind it:

FreemanX: So how did it all start?

Clare: We started operating in 1993 on receipt of our Air Operations Certificate, and our first flights began in early 1994. Both myself and co-owner John had worked for balloon companies for years both in Australia and overseas so starting our own business was the next logical step. There were no balloons operating over greater Sydney, only Camden, but we changed all that...


FreemanX: So what would you say seperates you from the other Ballooning companies in Australia?

Clare: What sets us apart is that we are a fully Australian owned and operated customer orientated balloon company, and the only one to fly over greater Sydney. Both our pilots are very experienced and are very passionate about their flying, they are a lot of fun, and together with our ground crew we have trained to make a great team!

FreemanX: What can people expect on the day apart from obviously a fantastic balloon flight?

Clare: After flights everyone sits down and enjoys a full breakfast in a restaurant, in our opinion the food has to be great to match the experience and that’s why we don’t just offer light refreshments.

FreemanX: So it's obvious you love what you do, what's the key to the continued enjoyment?

Clare: I enjoy my role within the company because I get to do a bit of everything, we all get to be hands on., from taking bookings to marketing and financial planning, sometimes I will still get down there and inflate the balloon and work with the ground crew. If there’s room I try and fly as often as I can, get some more photos, get away from the world below, and just enjoy the ride!

FreemanX: Where do you see the company going from here?

Clare: We only see the company getting bigger and better and soon plan to offer photo as well as video options for flights. In the not too distant future we will also look to expand into new flight areas to offer passengers new vistas to view!
